Current travel plans

When I am writing this, my next planned trip will be my move to Los Angeles on 9 September 2000. Next to that I have an appointment in Baltimore around 21 October 2000 which will probably mean that I will stay around Baltimore and DC for a few days and maybe also visit New York.

Hosting travellers

I am not particularly fond of going through the fuss of travelling to some more or less remote place. I do like meeting new people and people in another culture. That's why I joined the hosts/travellers organisation Servas as a host. It is an idealist group of exchanging hospitality in order to build friendships and exchange ideas between people from different cultures and nations. Originally the initiative was taken in 1949 as searching for means to prevent to third world war. And guess what: did you see any third world war lately? So it must have worked!
So I have regularly been hosting a traveller in my apartment, if from Servas usually straight and if I know him by correspondence usually gay.
I have seen internet discussed in the bulletins I get from Servas, but I don't think the organisation as such has a web site address now. I have come across a web page of someone who is giving some extra attention to Servas. The US department of Servas also has a web site which is here.

Trips I have done earlier

Well, because I have a lot of friends of correspondence I sometimes get a tendency to tell about the same story to everyone after a trip, so why would I not put the stories which have grown out like that on here as well? I just hope that I have removed enough for not offending anyone or causing any other problems because of reading by someone unexpected. I have been away several times since June 1996, but that is the most recent trip of which I have a story. The newer ones are more picture oriented than a story,so it won't take so much time to read them, though it might take more time to download them.
