Pictures of during my time in New York City since October 2007

Just before I moved to New York, I had this view from my hotel where I stayed during my job application. The two tallest buildings in this picture are obviously the Empire State Building and the Chrysler building. Precisely halfway those two is where I am living now.

I zoomed in on part of the Chrysler Building, my favorite highrise, by day and by night.

Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. run by two blocks from my place.

New York puts quite a lot into their holiday decorations.

Including the display windows of department stores that take themselves seriously. This one is at Lord and Taylor.

And the usually very grey corporate lobbies get cheered up by decorated trees and Santa Clauses.

I also think that it would be a good idea if most cars would fly off Manhattan like dandelion seeds, but these ones stayed inside of the Guggenheim Museum.

New Year celebrations in Chinatown.

A lion at the public library, trying to act as if he is -not- cold.

The show must go on also in Central Park.

Temporily added statues in the park.

Topping off Grand Central, basking in the sun . .

Easter Parade still happening after all these years since Judy Garland and Fred Astaire . . .

Brooklyn Bridge

I recall that I bicycled over this bikepath on the upper level of the Brooklyn Bridge some 20 years ago when I was almost the only one there. It has apparently been discovered by the tourists now.

Gay Pride Parade.

Contrary to LA, we do get rain showers here at the most inconvenient times.

But when the weather is nice, people go outdoors and e.g. Bryant Park shows them off in all shapes and forms.
