Not so far from Rotterdam

I see that I have not scanned a lot from the Netherlands and Belgium which are not really close to Rotterdam, I can just show you some pictures now from Asmterdam and Antwerp.

Here is a picture of some years ago of a demonstration against the Gulf war passing under the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.

This picture seem to show my interest in City Halls. Well since the 19th century it is a royal palace, but it is built as the City Hall of Amsterdam. This is a look inside the civil hall. It is very large, I have been told it was the largest hall of its time. Still the whole building is awfully modest if you realize that Amsterdam was the most powerfull city of the world when this was built.

So far Amsterdam for the moment. The following is in Antwerp.

This is the central market place, which as you may guess by this time, the City Hall.

And here is a statue in one of the churches in Antwerp. We don't have churches like that in the Netherlands since most of the rich interiors have been destroyed around the start of the 80-years war when most of the Netherlands became protestant.
